How to book and travel from anywhere to Koh Samui Airport by plane
Here you learn to know how you can best fly to Samui while searching and booking for the best airfaires and dates for a flight. Basically there are three options for your travel plans how to travel by air to Samui:
(1) You book a flight to Bangkok (airport code BKK) in Thailand. From there you change for the connection plane to Koh Samui.
(2) You check for your travel plans also direct flights to Samui from Singapur, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) or Hongkong.
(3) You look for direct flights within Thailand from Krabi, Phuket or Pattaya to Samui.

(1) The most popular way: By air via Bangkok to Koh Samui
This is how most tourists come to Samui: Get an airline ticket from anywhere in the world to Bangkok airport Suvarnabhumi (airport code: BKK). Second you book seperately (!) a connection flight to Koh Samui (airport code USM) at the Website of Bangkok Airways which has some monopoly for Samui Airport. Fares start from 2.000 Baht up to about 3.500 Baht one way. Planes start from Bangkok to Samui and back about every 30 minutes. Flight time is between 60 and 90 min. depending on the plane. Just have a look at the flight schedule from Bangkok to Samui.
Tips:
- Look for a ticket to Bangkok even you want to go to Samui by air. The global booking systems like Amadeus seem to boykott a direct connection to Samui. Of course you should try an online search for a ticket from your starting airport to Samui too. But this may not be a good deal or even fail at all.
- Look for special rates at the Website of Bangkok Airways. By this you can save money. Low fares are typically given for very early and late flights, and should be booked very soon.
- Show your credit card at check in. When you show up at the check-in of Bangkok Airways you will be asked to show your credit card together with the print out of your online-booking information. If it is not your credit card which has been used when booking you should present a photocopy of the credit card used (best both sides) while the paper is signed by the credit card owner! This shall prevent credit card frauds.
(2) Direct international flights to Koh Samui Airport
There are several airports in Asian countries from where you can fly directly to Koh Samui. This is what most people do not take into account. For a direct international connection flight check not only Bangkok but also Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) or Hongkong on the route map here. Now look at international flights which go to these destinations and fit for a connection flight to Samui. May be you find a bargain here or it is a faster connection then a connection flight via Bangkok. In any way it gives you more choices for your travel plans to South East Asia and Samui.
(3) Direct national flights to Koh Samui
There are direct national flights to Samui from Krabi, Phuket and Pattaya which all can be booked via Bangkok Airways. Check flight schedules here.
